LAUSD could probably afford it’s own space program if they cut out all the waste.
My classroom has an ‘emergency exit’ opening in the metal bars outside thick plexiglass windows. I would need an torch to cut through the window to access that exit. But wait! I could go to one of the two doors that have always existed 6 or 7 feet away on both sides of the ‘emergency exit’.
This was after they wired the classrooms for the internet in front of the chalkboards/whiteboards where directed lessons occur. Within two years they were back to re-wire the internet where computers could actually be located.
Who plans this stuff?
Thanks for your comment. I absolutely agree with you that they could fund a mission to Mars on the waste/mismanagement in the construction program. A couple of years back they spent the entire year putting the heating/ac ducts in the front of the classroom. You know those huge silver boxy pipes that are usually on roofs? They decided it was cheaper to put them inside rather than outside. They did the job so slowly and so piecemeal, I had to move my sound spelling cards three times because each time they’d come in and add another layer that blocked a couple more feet at the front of the room. And then they’d take things from my students’ emergency earthquake supplies and leave nails lying around on the floors.
